Unique Wedding Cake Ideas

Your wedding cake can be anything you want it to be. It is traditional to have a cake, but your definition of a wedding cake may be completely different than other couples' definitions. Think what your favorite dessert is and incorporate that into your wedding cake. Although you want your guests to enjoy the "cake" as well, remember it's your day and what you want is what matters.

Cupcake trees

A cupcake tree can make a beautiful wedding "cake." Cupcake trees are less messy and easier to serve than regular cake. They are also something you can make yourself, freeze and decorate the day before or the day of the wedding. There are racks specially-designed for holding cupcakes, but you can also stack cupcakes in layers with cardboard in between.

Wedding pies

Decorative pie.

If you aren't a cake person, you don't have to have cake at the reception. Why not some wedding pies? You can have cream pies, fruit pies--even a cheesecake or two. Pies can be decorated for the wedding day and placed in a tier holder to resemble a cake.

Unique shapes

A three-tiered, round wedding cake is about as traditional as you can get. Instead, try a square-tiered cake, an octagon-tiered cake or skip the tiers altogether. If a more whimsical cake fits your personality, go for it. Cakes can be made into just about any shape you can imagine.
